eCorrespondence-Overview

Select Correspondence/Documentation, eCorrespondence

The eCorrespondence page provides two (2) tabs:

  • Click the Correspondence tab to display eligibility, enrollment, and Medicare-related correspondence for sponsors and those family members who are current beneficiaries in DEERS.
  • Click the Proof of Coverage tab to review correspondence for the selected family member, or choose options for a Proof of Coverage letter.
  • Most correspondence is no longer sent through the USPS; it is available in milConnect.

Beneficiaries will receive either an email or a postcard directing them to milConnect to retrieve their correspondence. This applies to all uniformed Service members, retirees, and their dependents.

When you are no longer a DoD beneficiary (you are no longer eligible for benefits), you cannot access milConnect benefits pages. However, the eCorrespondence page remains available for six (6) months after the date on which a sponsor or family member is no longer eligible for benefits.

  • Sponsors and surviving spouses can view enrollment letters for themselves and their family members who are under the age of 18.
  • Sponsors can see correspondence regardless of the dependents' age.
  • Sponsors and surviving spouses cannot see correspondence for a dependent who has terminated their association to the sponsor, or who has set a restriction on displaying contact information.

Rules

Email notifications are sent to sponsors and family members, based on their My Profile settings in ID Card Office Online.

By default, email notifications for sponsors are sent to their personnel (work) email addresses. The personnel email is the address associated with the CAC when the sponsor is a member of an active component, or the sponsor is a National Guard or Reserve Member on active duty or early alert.

  • Sponsors in these categories who have primary personal email addresses can choose to receive notifications at these addresses instead of their work email addresses.

Retirees, family members, and National Guard or Reserve members not on active duty will receive email at the personal email address specified in their My Profile settings.
