Using Online Help

The Help icon (Help icon) on each milConnect page opens to Help topics related to that page.

  • The milConnect online Help window displays the Contents pane on the left and the Topics pane on the right.
  • The path at the top of most topics shows how to get to the related page in milConnect.

When you click the Help icon, a new window opens, displaying the Contents and introductory Help topic.

  1. To search for a term, click (Search icon), enter the term in the Search box, and press Enter or select a displayed term.
  2. To view a topic, click the topic in the Contents on the left side of the Help window.
  3. To view a list of acronyms and terms included in this help file, click the Glossary tab. Clicking an acronym or term displays the definition. Clicking the acronym again closes the definition. Multiple definitions can display at the same time.
  4. To hide or restore the Contents pane, click the hide/show left panel icon Hide/show left panel icon.
  5. To save and view favorites:
    1. Save a favorite topic for future reference by clicking the Set as Favorite icon in the mini-table of contents.
    2. View a list of favorite topics by clicking the Favorites icon (Favorites icon) in the top menu bar.
  6. To print a topic, click Print icon.
  7. Within help topics, the first occurrence of each acronym is a link to the glossary. Clicking a linked acronym opens a pop-up that displays the definition. Clicking anywhere on the screen closes the pop-up.
  8. A mini-TOC displays if there are multiple sub-sections within a topic. You can click the link to skip directly to that sub-section.
  9. The help version is displayed in the footer of each page. This version number coincides with the current release of the portlet user guide.
  10. To close the help window, click the X in the window title bar.
  • To zoom in or out of the Help, press the Ctrl key on your keyboard and roll the scroll button on your mouse forward (away from you) to make text bigger or backward (towards you) to make text smaller. You can also press the Ctrl key on your keyboard and the plus (+) or minus (-) keys to perform the same function.
