Beneficiary Web Enrollment (BWE)-Overview
Eligible beneficiaries can use the BWE portlet to enroll in medical and dental benefits, disenroll, change a PCM, update address information (which affects plan eligibility), and view pharmacy and Medicare information.
If you are listed in the DEERS system as eligible for military health benefits, select Beneficiary Web Enrollment (BWE) from the Benefits menu to enroll in TRICARE online through milConnect.
- Sponsors and spouses can perform enrollment functions for themselves and their family members.
- For sponsors only, the Family Members list is displayed on the left. To view health care information for a family member, click the family member's name in the list on the left. The eligibility and enrollment information on the right is displayed for the selected person. The information that is displayed on the Medical Enrollments/Dental Enrollments/Pharmacy Coverages tabs depends on who is viewing it.
- Beneficiaries over the age of 18 can perform enrollment functions for themselves only.
- Family members can view only their own healthcare information.
- Newborns are displayed as beneficiaries only after they have been verified at a military ID card issuing facility.
The Medical Enrollments, Dental Enrollments, and Pharmacy Coverages tabs display healthcare and other coverages for sponsors and those family members who are current beneficiaries in DEERS. Family members who have been disenrolled due to an event, such as divorce or death, do not display here.
Getting Started
It is helpful to familiarize yourself with the plans available to you based on your status and location. Gather any information you need to update family member addresses, email, or other contact information, and the credit card or EFT information that you might need to enroll in medical and dental plans. If you are not enrolling during a regular enrollment period you might need to select a QLE and QLE start date to proceed.
- Please read the Beneficiary Web Enrollment (BWE) FAQs in milConnect for answers to FAQs and links to the TRICARE website for information on plans, contact information, and paper enrollment forms.
- Read the FAQs in the "Troubleshoot Enrollment Issues" section for valuable information that can help you prevent problems while enrolling.
- The system will time out after 15 minutes of inactivity. BWE does not save your enrollment information until you click Submit, which does not display until you have provided all required information.
